Welcome to Our Journey
The Mindfulness Project started as an education master’s program final project written by Michelle LeBlanc for the Teaching Literacy with Children’s and Young Adult Literature class at Texas State University with Dr. Hines (who is amazing) in 2024. It continues on as a journal, blog, and resource for educators and students alike.
Michelle is an educator at a Title 1 school in Austin, Texas. She is inspired daily by her wonderful students who never fail to demonstrate how big their hearts are and the enthusiasm of youth.
Living and working in an urban environment in Texas has benefits, but also has its limitations and challenges.
Food deserts, environmental injustice, health inequities, poverty, homelessness, and the struggle to not only survive, but thrive are realities many of us face daily.
It is overwhelming. We may not be able to control all of the inequities and injustices, and we may not be able to address it with the speed in which we wish to.
But we CAN go within ourselves, become mindful inhabitants, and make better choices that can lead to a happier, safer, healthier life. Step by step.
Michelle is a certified Cycling Instructor (LCI), Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT), and Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). She received her bachelor’s in business from North Central College and anticipates receiving her master’s in Education with a Reading Specialty certification from Texas State in summer of 2025.
